The Fabric’s co-creation process is unique as it focuses on the two most important parts of a start-up: the market and the founding team. With the help of The Fabric advisors and staff, Rajan Raghavan and Prabakar Sundarrajan, co-founders of The Fabric, have identified the white space and found the entrepreneurs for every co-created company. This is the co-creation of Cloudbrink.
Cloudbrink Story – The Distribution of a Centralized Cloud
The first step of the co-creation process is the identification of white space in the cloud and IoT infrastructure market. At this point in time, the world was going decentralized and the cloud market seemed to be the exception in early 2019. Having multiple, but centralized, clouds was as distributed as it got. Rajan Raghavan and Prabakar Sundarrajan noticed this and began to look into the ability to provide distributed clouds. This was their high-level thesis. It was broad enough that a company would have the opportunity to grow but specific enough to allow for innovation.
The second step of the formation process is the search for entrepreneurs with enough expertise and interest to help build the company. At the same time, Subbu Ponnuswamy, former CTO at KodaCloud and Mojo Networks, was actually looking into a very similar idea. Subbu knew Dhawal Tyagi, co-founder of IoTium, from their days together at Aruba Networks. Dhawal introduced Subbu to Rajan and Prabakar as an entrepreneur with the same interest. Seeing the progress that Subbu had already made in his personal research along with his extensive background, they knew that he would be a great co-founder. Subbu was brought on as an EIR to continue researching the white space and potential solutions.
Now that the white space was identified and an entrepreneur was found, the co-creation process moved forward. Their thesis ended up getting a founding advisor Nikesh Kalra, former Director of Business Development at Equinix, very early on, creating a catalyst for the co-creation process. Subbu was brought on as co-founder with The Fabric and collaboratively identified the solution that would fit into the white space. With the help and support from The Fabric Subbu initiated the formation of his company; thus Cloudbrink was born.
